The New England Media Company’s ZEN Interior Design Show, the magazine’s annual conference, returns for its second year.
As the first annual event since the rise of the blogosphere, the annual event attracts attendees from the web and beyond, and the New York-based company’s event planners have already narrowed their list to nine possible keynote speakers.
The New York Daily News, the publication of the New Yorker, is also in the running.
The Daily News is an iconic news organization with an enviable history in publishing journalism.
ZEN’s inaugural keynote speaker is Michael Lappin, the managing editor of the Daily News.
Lappins past stints at the Daily Mail, The Daily Telegraph, and The Times have earned him the nickname of the man who can’t stop quoting the Times, and he has been cited by Times editors as having “the most accurate, nuanced, and compelling voice in the Times’ newsroom.”
In an interview with The New Yorker last year, Lappinfosay that he believes ZEN can “rebuild the newsroom, the business side of the newspaper, the editorial side of that newspaper.”
