The first-of-its-kind interior design for the 2018 F1 season is underway in Los Angeles, with the first-ever green design of a Grand Prix car.
The exterior design will be done by architects at Miele and Wiegand, with a first look at the new design set to be unveiled at the start of next month.
“We were very excited to create the first Grand Prix green interior for 2018,” said Adrian Wiegands creative director, Daniel Mieles.
“It’s the first time a Grand Championship car has ever been built in this type of environmentally friendly way.”
The car has the look and feel of a classic sports car, but also the personality and character of a contemporary grand tourer.
“It is the most innovative Grand Prix design we’ve ever done, but it’s also the most practical, so it’s the ideal combination of design and performance.”
The design is based on the new Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, and will use materials that were not available in the original design.
Mieled and Wigands say the result is a car that will be “a true benchmark for the industry”.
“It’s an incredibly well-balanced and well-structured interior,” said Wieganda.
“We’re proud of the way the car feels.
It’s not a car to be beaten, but that’s because it’s a car with an incredible personality and a very strong sense of purpose.”
A great car is a great car.
This one is just the perfect combination of the design and the performance.
